The cheapest way to buy V-Bucks with crypto

When you buy V-Bucks with crypto, the card price is fixed in US dollars and converted to your coin at checkout — so the coin you choose does not change what the V-Bucks cost. What it changes is the network fee your wallet pays to send the crypto. Get that wrong on a small card and the fee can quietly add a few dollars to the total.

It's the network fee, not the coin, that costs you

Every coin we accept settles at the same dollar amount. The difference is the transfer fee set by each blockchain. On a 1,000 V-Bucks card, a $2–4 Bitcoin fee during a busy period is a real chunk of the cost; the same send in a low-fee stablecoin is a few cents.

Cheapest options, in order

  • A stablecoin on a low-fee network (for example USDT or USDC on a cheap network) — usually the lowest fee, often cents. Best for small cards.
  • Litecoin or other low-fee coins — inexpensive and fast, a good middle ground.
  • Ethereum — reasonable during quiet periods, expensive during congestion.
  • Bitcoin — fine for larger amounts, but the fee spikes when the network is busy, so it is a poor fit for a $9 card.

Two ways people overpay

First, sending during a fee spike. If you are not in a hurry, waiting an hour for the network to quiet down can halve the fee. Second, letting the wallet take its fee out of the amount sent — that leaves the payment short, which pauses the order at 'partially paid' until it is topped up. Add the fee on top so the full total arrives; our guide on what 'partially paid' means explains the fix.

The short version: for a single V-Bucks card, pay with a stablecoin on a cheap network, send the exact invoice amount, and you will pay the card price and almost nothing else. Then buy V-Bucks with crypto and redeem the code on your Epic account.
