An Xbox gift card is Microsoft Store credit: it buys games, apps, and add-ons across Xbox consoles and Windows, and it can go toward Game Pass. Because it is store credit rather than a subscription code, one card can cover a game this month and part of a Game Pass renewal the next.
Xbox and Microsoft Store credit share the same wallet, so a redeemed Xbox card is usable on a linked Windows PC as well as the console. Cards are region-based — a US card redeems on a US Microsoft account. Ours are US codes. Redeemed credit does not expire, though standalone Game Pass codes (a different product) do have redemption windows.
