How to redeem a Steam Wallet code

A Steam Wallet code adds funds to your Steam balance, ready to spend on games, DLC, and in-game purchases. You redeem it yourself inside Steam — there is no login to share with anyone. Here are both ways to do it.

Redeem in the Steam client

• Open Steam and sign in. Click your account name (top right), then Account details.
• Select Add funds to your Steam Wallet, then Redeem a Steam Wallet Code (bottom of the page).
• Enter the code and select Continue. The funds are added to your wallet immediately.

Redeem in a web browser

• Go to store.steampowered.com and sign in.
• Open Account details, then Redeem a Steam Wallet Code, and enter the code.

Currency and region have to match

This trips up more buyers than a bad code. Steam Wallet funds must match your account's registered currency and region — a US-dollar code redeems on a US account. If the code won't redeem

• "This code has already been activated" — it was used before. Contact the seller with your order ID if you never redeemed it.
• Wrong currency/region — the code must match your Steam account's country. This cannot be changed with a balance on the account.
• Too many attempts — Steam temporarily blocks redemption after several failed tries. Wait an hour and re-enter it carefully.
