How to redeem a Nintendo eShop code

A Nintendo eShop code adds funds to your Nintendo Account balance, which buys games and DLC on Switch and covers Nintendo Switch Online. You redeem it yourself — here is how on the console and on the web.

Redeem on your Nintendo Switch

  • From the Home menu, open the Nintendo eShop and select the account to add funds to.
  • Scroll down the left menu to Redeem Code (or select Enter Code).
  • Enter the 16-character code and select OK. The balance is added to that account immediately.

Redeem in a browser

  • Sign in to your Nintendo Account at nintendo.com, and open the eShop redemption page.
  • Enter the 16-character code to add the funds to your account balance.

eShop codes are region-locked

A US eShop code only redeems on a US-region Nintendo Account, and the region cannot be changed once the account has a balance. Confirm your account's country before buying. Our Nintendo eShop codes are US codes for US accounts. Redeemed funds never expire and can go toward Switch Online as well as games.

If the code won't redeem

  • Region mismatch — a US code needs a US Nintendo Account. This is the usual cause of a rejected eShop code.
  • "This code cannot be redeemed" — re-check every character; if it is genuinely used, contact the seller with your order ID.
  • Wrong account — make sure you selected the account you actually play on before entering the code.
